It is extremely important that we contact our elected officials and urge them to push through the NY City Council resolution drafted by Councilman Oliver Koppell asking the Federal Government to declare the PLO a terrorist organization. It is imperative our elected officials know this is a matter of widespread public concern in order to get the PLO Mission in NYC closed down. Strong statements have been coming from the Bush administration in the past few weeks.... for example...."US backs confinement of Arafat" and "US threatens to close down PA offices in DC".... we need to act immediately. If you do not reside in NY please contact your Senators and Congressmen. (see below) Before the PLO offices can be shut down in this country the Federal Government must declare the PLO a terrorist organization first. Our elected officials need to hear it from us...that it is unacceptable for an organization that promotes, condones and engages in terrorism to have any sort of presence in New York or in Washington D.C.

1) For New York City Residents Please go to the following website in order to find the contact information to your local City Council members. www.ci.nyc.ny.us Once on the site, on the right you will see "elected officials" and click onto "The NY City Council" and "Public Advocate".
You can also contact the City Council by phone: 212-535-5554 or by fax: 212-788-7207 to obtain your Council member's name, and contact information. Urge for their support of Councilman Oliver Koppell's resolution.

3) For New York State Residents Please go to the following website in order to find your NYS Assemblyman, assembly.state.ny.us/mem . Click onto the name of your Assemblyman as well as Speaker Sheldon Silver (speaker@assembly.state.ny.us) and urge them to push a similar resolution onto the floor of the NYS Assembly that urges the Federal Government to declare the PLO a terrorist organization.

4) For US Residents Please contact your Senators and convey the importance of a similar resolution passing through in the Senate that urges the Federal Government to declare the PLO a terrorist organization. Go to www.senate.gov/contacting/index.cfm and find your State Senators.
