Packages to Victims of Terror
An email from Gwenn_Peretz@smbcgroup.com
We are all being bombarded by Tzedakah requests, especially in this very difficult year. However, I would like to being to your attention a grassroots organization made up of totally unpaid volunteers dedicated to delivering Care Packages and visiting the victims of terror in Israel and every single penny of the donations go to the Care Packages and the delivery personnel.
I had the honor of meeting with the founder of the Navah Fund, Tehila Friedman, while I was in Israel and can testify to the enormous amount of time, effort, and emotional involvement that these volunteers are doing for Bikur Cholim of the victims of terror.
The volunteers at the Navah Fund which is associated with Fly-A Cake visit the victims of terror at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and their homes with cards and Care Packages. They maintain an ongoing relationship with these victims from the time of their injuries throughout their recuperation period.
The victims are so thankful that there are people that care what happens to them. One example is a woman called them crying. She and her husband had been injured in the attack in Rishon Letzion on May 7. She kept repeating over and over on the phone that she was so touched by the package that she received that although the incident occurred 3 months before, it is the attention that has made a difference to them, and the fact that they now believe that they are loved and that there are so many good people out there that truly do care about them. They have received letters from two of the recipients of the care packages. In another case, a child was not responding to therapy and was very withdrawn and depressed.
The Navah volunteers brought him a Teddy Bear package. The nurses peeked in and saw that he was hugging the Teddy Bear and then always kept it at his side.
Fly-A-Cake, is trying to send out as many Care Packages as possible to the victims of Terror and their families.
For your donation of $18, $36, or $72 a delicious care package full of chocolates and freshly baked cookies with a note is delivered personally to a terror victim.
Since we are here and unable to visit the victims ourselves, please make your best effort in donating at least one Care Package. If every one of us on the Teaneck shuls list would just send 2 packages for $36, we will send 1300 packages bringing a little happiness and love to 1300 terror victims.
